Trojan Update 2/24
Penn State fans are upset about Hazelton's decision. Here's what one Penn State website had to say: "The Hazeltons took an unofficial visit to Penn State in mid-February. According to multiple sources close to the program, Vidal told several PSU players he had changed his mind and was set to sign with the Nittany Lions. A few days later, Dexter told Scout.com he was upset over the fanfare surrounding his son's visit to Penn State, which included taking in a Nittany Lion basketball game in courtside seats. "We wanted a laid back trip just to find out the things we wanted to know," Dexter said. "We did not want all the bells and whistles." The valid letter of intent was sent (to USC) on Thursday. Someone on the USC staff leaked the news to the Orange County Register. The paper reported it in its online edition and the saga was, in effect, over. Dexter was reportedly livid. No word on whether he contacted the Penn State staff to inquire about his son transferring."
And just to add a little fuel to the fire: According to U.S. News and World Report, USC is ranked as America's 30th best academic college in 2006 while Penn State is ranked 48th.
